They mate in summer, and young are born after 9 months. Litters average 2-3 young that appear in March to April. Kits are born white and blind, and they are weaned by age of 10 weeks. Females mature after 15 months, and it takes 2 years for males to mature.

Wolverines measure about 18 inches (males) and 14 inches (females) in height and, correspondingly, 45 and 36 inches in crown-rump length. Weight averages 35 pounds (males) and 25 pounds (females.)
